So I've downloaded all the files and managed to run the game successfully before by adding it to the exclusions to my antivirus software. Then I go to run it again and it's doing the same thing it was before. If I just click on it, it freezes up for a while before giving me an error message saying I don't have permission to open it. Whenever I try to right click it, it just plain old freezes up and crashes. Can anyone tell me exactly what's going on? I've already uninstalled my antivirus.

Did you already try running it as an administrator? It should show up as a choice after right clicking psobb.exe on Windows 7.

If you read my first post, you'll notice how I said it crashes after I right click. That means it doesn't even give me the drop down menu to select run as administrator.

Wait, permissions? By the way, did you ask your PC administrator about uninstalling that antivirus? I think that's really important, so we can't really do much if you can't really access some features on your PC.

An alternate way to run it as administrator since you can't right click for whatever reason...
Windows key + R > type cmd > ctrl+shift+enter > navigate to your psobb directory ("cd .." to go up a directory "cd foldername" to go deeper) > type psobb.exe in the console and hit enter.

"Windows" crashes. Basically my whole computer just freezes up and then says that it's encountered a problem, and I'm given an option to restart the program, close the program, or wait for a response. When I do the first two, it pretty much just reboots the desktop. But thanks, I'll try the command prompt thing.

Well I tried the command prompt thing, and it just froze up for a little bit then said access denied.

Fixed.

What was the cause in the end?
