Is there anyone else that messes with this program?

... Do you know what it is!?

Now, my collection doesn't look like this. Mostly because I haven't compiled all the characters into a single pack, yet. But this is typically what a large roster for M.U.G.E.N. looks like.

It's a fully customizable 2-D Fighting Engine. You can have however many characters and stages you want, in any combination. You can do custom lifebars, sound effects, the works! I ask because I've been collecting for almost three years now, and I'm pretty sure my character collection is well over 1,200. I'll have my entire character list compiled and posted soon, but if there's anyone that does mess with this, are you looking for any characters in particular?

xD, Sounds about right.

I do have quite a handful of balanced characters that I've put together and inserted into their own separate MUGEN client. But of course, having those OP ones... especially the ones that are private releases... got to have them. They do pretty things. :D

My brother played around with it for a while. I can't work with fighting games for the life of me so yeah....

Seemed like it was mostly just a place for people to make really unbalanced characters, so I didn't stick with it very long after trying it

And in most cases, that's what ends up happening, sadly. But where there are a bunch of unbalanced characters, there's an equal amount (if not more) of pretty balanced ones. I actually have two separate MUGEN installations for that specific purpose.

I tend to play more commercial games (i.e. Street Fighter, BlazBlue) but I've had my moments were I was on Mugen in the past. Some of these characters, esp made by the Japanese (go figure), can be really fricken hilarious. Rare Akuma being a popular example (although not Japanese I don't think). So. Many. Classic. Video game references. It was a burst of nostalgia and laughter. This is what I admire most in the Mugen world. You got some really creative people.

Sadly, Mugen is flooded with shitty, unoriginal characters like SSJ9001 OMEGA CYBORG NARUTO HURR DURR so it can be like trying to find a 10 karat piece of gold in 99 gallons of... use your imagination.

There's some gray when it comes to Mugen. Some people brand it as unbalanced shit, some people think it's potential art with lots of creativity behind it. Typical black and white views. Is it worth it? That's up to you. Personally, I don't really mess with Mugen much. Or anymore, really. I find myself too occupied with other things to really dive into it.

That's completely understandable. I'm mostly in the scene for the collection sense. I do agree that some of the characters are just... lol.
Examples include, but are not limited to:

Omni-Psych Super Dizzy [Limited Edition]
Arc
Dark-Arc-Angel
Chuck Norris
The Fleet of Legend Orochi's
Rox Howard Clones
Finale Sula
Arabella Rose
Arabella Aurora
Uroboros

The list goes on (these are some of the characters in my list).

But then there are characters that are actually worth playing with/against. Mostly, characters created by Phantom of the Server (P.O.T.S.), x_vyn_x, etc.

It does take quite a while, but it's mostly why I have several different clients for character categorization. If I just want to watch a bunch of flashy, explosive colors all over the screen, I load one. If I actually want to play, I load the other.

I remember when my friend showed me Mugen for the first time, it was pretty cool considering you could make whatever roster of characters you want, especially since he took time to find balanced characters so the matchups weren't completely broken.

I wonder, have any of you seen Saltybet.com? It's a website where you can bet virtual 'Salty Bucks' on Mugen AI fights shown over Twitch (no real money involved, for your info). It's hilarious because it takes the one annoying thing about Mugen which is the different quality of character AI and pits them against each other. The stream's virtually infinite and it gets updates, it's really fun to watch especially since matchups are so random.
